Kentucky police on Thursday were hunting for a 35-year-old man for fatally shooting an off-duty police officer — after posing as a cop and pulling over the officer.

Republican Gov. Matt Bevin said on Twitter:

The suspect was identified to Fox News as James Decoursey by Christian County Emergency Management officials.

Decoursey is white with brown eyes and black hair. He weighs 260 pounds and is 6’1″ tall, according to the news outlet.

He is considered “armed and dangerous,” police said.

Hopkinsville is about 75 miles north of Nashville.

According to the Fox report, the off-duty officer was pulled over in his own car by someone “pretending to be a police officer.”

A short time later, the officer was reportedly shot by the suspect before fleeing in a white Chevrolet pickup truck with Kentucky plates.

Decoursey “is considered armed and dangerous,” according to police.
